Dear Parents/Carers,

As this term draws to an end I want to thank you for all of your support and smiling faces on the gate every morning. It has been a jam-packed term with so many creative approaches to learning from Year 4 visiting the Crofton Roman Villa to Year 6 recreating Victorian life and Year 3 visiting the Natural History Museum to discover how early man survived. Then Year 2 went on an exciting adventure by boat to visit the Tower of London and took part in a dramatic retelling in the White Tower – recounting the key events of the Great Fire of London from the perspective of Samuel Pepys. Year 1 visited Hall Place making connections with our local area and finding out what toys were like in the past. In Nursery our newest members of Eastcote have been exploring who they are, their families and how we are all the same but different. Year 5 visited the Gurdwara in Woolwich and made links through RE with special books and Sikh beliefs.

We are very lucky to have a committed and amazing parent association who not only support the school by raising funds but also holding incredible events that make attending this school very special. Throughout term PACE have organised many events including a Halloween Disco, the First Firework event held at the school that was attended by the Mayor and Mayoress of Bexley and in December we had our cosy pyjama day. We ended the term with not one but two pantomime performances and the production of Beauty and the Beast at Dartford Theatre West was truly magical. The term ended with Santa’s Workshop with some very worn out elves and some very happy children. I would like to say a big thank you for all of the adults who organised these events and to you as parents for supporting them.

The pupil voice in the school is growing every day and the House Captains have organised school events including Children in Need raising £269.23p to support good causes. They also held an election to appoint a school council so they can work in together to give the children a voice in improving the school, so that we can make this the best school possible for the children. Our newly elected school council are:

  • Year 1 – Henri & Thea
  • Year 2 – Penny & Vian
  • Year 3 – Ava & Simon
  • Year 4 – Khivi & Jack
  • Year 5 – Holly & Ethan
  • Year 6 – Dylan, Trey, Sophie and Jindh

We also finished the term with two very special performances. A KS2 Carol Service in St Mary’s the Virgin Church and the Infants performed ‘Whoops a Daisy’ a wonderful version of the nativity in the school hall. This was such a special day and was greatly enjoyed by the children. The teachers and teaching assistants were rightly proud of our children and they were a credit to the school. Christmas dinner/jumper day was a great success and we thank Ms Sime and her kitchen elves for a fantastic lunch.  I cannot wait to see what the new year will bring. I wish you all a merry Christmas holiday and look forward to seeing you all back at school on Wednesday 3rd January 2024.

Kind regards,
Mrs R England | Principal
