End of Term Newsletter: February 2026

Latest Newsletter header image

Dear Parents/Carers,

We have had an action-packed half-term. Starting with the International Baccalaureate re-evaluation this was a wonderful way for the school to showcase our Inquiry Units and they were impressed by both the children and whole-school community. They noted the holistic approach to education that the school provided and how every child is valued. It was evident during their visit what an inclusive and welcoming school we were – where the staff and pupils all had a clear voice.

We are so pleased that the class newsletters have been so positively received and we will continue to develop these, they can also be found on the school website, under the curriculum tab – and in each individual class.

Have a restful half-term break and we look forward to seeing you back on Monday 23rd February.

Egyptian Day

Year Three loved stepping back in time to over 3,000 years ago. In the words of Year Three they: ‘loved the day’ ‘it was very exciting’ ‘they discovered how they built houses and boats’ ‘they learnt how Egyptians removed brains threw their noses!’ ‘that archaeologists find poo very useful to discover people’s diets!’ They also debated what an anachronism is!

A 3D-style digital illustration of a young woman dressed in ancient Egyptian-inspired attire, including a blue headdress and gold jewelry. In a humorous or anachronistic twist, she is holding a modern plastic water bottle and wearing a wristwatch.

Florence Nightingale Visit

year Two were also budding historians learning they visited the Florence Nightingale Museum and met ‘Florence Nightingale’ and asked her lots of questions about her life and what it was like in the Crimea. They also had the chance to see this sculpture in St Thomas’ hospital Gardens of the inspirational nurse Mary Seacole by Martin Jennings.

A bronze statue of Mary Seacole, a famous Jamaican-British nurse, standing in front of a large, circular stone disc with a textured surface. The monument is located in an outdoor plaza in front of a modern building.

nUMBERS DAY

This was such a successful day, thank you everyone who took the time to come into school, every class enjoyed their ‘maths’ experience showing how much fun maths can be. The parents in Year Six took their role very seriously. In addition to this the school community raised £238 for the NSPCC.

Football Tournament

The school football team made it through to the County Finals of the ESFA Pokemon U11 Primary Schools Seven-a-Sides – Schools, Girls and Small Schools tournament. They have made us all very proud with their ability to play a fair game and show true sportsmanship to the other teams. We are very proud of them as today they came 2nd in the County Finals and won 3 games, lost 1 and drew 1.
