World Book Day

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to inform you about our upcoming celebration of World Book Day, which will take place on Thursday, 5th March. This day is an excellent opportunity for our students to immerse themselves in the joy of reading and to celebrate literature in various creative ways.

Due to last year’s success, we encourage children to dress up as their favourite book character, or to wear a colour that represents a literary genre they enjoy.

  • Fiction: Green
  • Poetry: Yellow
  • Non- fiction (biographies/autobiographies): Grey
  • Action and Adventure: Orange
  • Mystery/Fantasy/Science fiction: Purple
  • Comedy and Humour: Red
  • Historical fiction: Blue
  • Horror: Black
  • Fairy Tale/Fable/Folktale: Pink

Additionally, we are excited to announce that there will be a Scholastic book fair held in the school hall on Thursday, 5th March and Friday, 6th March, from 3:20 pm to 4:00 pm. This presents a wonderful
opportunity for children and families to explore a variety of books and to purchase new reads to enjoy at home.

Throughout the day, each class will participate in a cross year group reading session with their peers as well as a ‘Stop, Drop and Read’ at surprise moments during the day. School staff have also created an
entertaining ‘The Masked Reader’ event where children must guess which member of staff is the masked reader.

Thank you for your continued support of our initiatives to promote literacy and a love of reading. We look forward to celebrating this exciting day with your children.

Yours sincerely,

Miss Lacy | Assistant Principal
